Two people face the same deadline – one thrives, one crumbles. The difference isn’t the situation; it’s the story they tell about it. “This is terrible” creates different chemistry in your body than “This is challenging.”

  • Individual’s Tip: Reframe one stressor as a challenge. Instead of “This is terrible,” try “This is difficult and I’m learning.” Notice if it feels different.
  • Team Leader Tip: When crisis hits, ask your team “What can we learn from this?” Shift from blame to growth. Make problems into teaching moments.
  • Executive Leader: Change organizational language. Replace “problems” with “challenges,” “failures” with “experiments.” Words shape mindset.
