Automation makes things faster, not better. Automating chaos gives you faster chaos. Fix the process manually until it works smoothly, then make it fast.

One thing you could do this week to reduce friction and increase flow:

  • Individual’s Tip: Before making something faster, make it better. Fix it manually first, then speed it up.
  • Team Leader Tip: Stop the team from automating bad processes. First question: “Should we even do this?”
  • Executive Leader: Create automation criteria: Is the process necessary? Optimized? Stable? Only then automate.
